Inside | Outside

2016

Florim, an architectural textile company, held a competition to design an exhibition of their work in their flagship store in Milan in 2016.

Inside|Outside uses the storefront of Florim’s new flagship as the catalyst for the design to subvert the traditional use of the window as a means of presentation. Every window is covered with one-way vision film that has a specific material with a dedicated space on the interior only visible through the text itself. From the exterior, the design relies on the human nature of curiosity to transform the window as an element of presentation through transparency to obscurity through opacity. From the interior, the unknowing viewer on the street goes from window-shopper to the object on display.
